Write for us
We welcome pitches that make a specific route of exchange easier to see: a phrase in translation, a story changing format, or a practice adapting to a different context. We value precise scope, thoughtful context and a clear reason the subject matters to curious readers.
What to pitch
Send a concise proposal centred on one subject and one question. Explain what changes as the idea travels, which contexts the piece will compare and what readers will understand by the end. Essays, reported explanations and visual story proposals are welcome when their evidence and approach are clear.
What makes a strong proposal
Show that the idea can be handled without treating a community as uniform or reducing a complex history to a single origin. Name the kinds of sources or expertise the piece would draw on, flag uncertainties and disclose relevant interests. Avoid pitches built only around broad claims of influence.
How to send it
Use the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Include a working title, a short summary and any relevant links or examples. A proposal is not a guarantee of publication; do not send confidential material.
Ideas never travel unchanged
A phrase, picture or practice can acquire a new purpose far from where it began. We look at the route as closely as the arrival.
